Hollis Seniors meet every Thursday at the Lawrence Barn Community Center.  Gathering starts at 11 AM and Meals on Wheels is usually brought in at noon.  A program usually follows the meal or members stay and socialize, playing games of their choice.

We had a great month this May!   We kicked off the month with a movie.  The movies will continue monthly. (Keep an eye out for the schedule!)  Dot Blair did a presentation on using aromatic oils to naturally improve health. She also displayed lovely earrings that her husband made from fishing flies. The following week Karen Cerato spoke to us about Reiki, a natural way to reduce stress and pain. On the last meeting of the month the Hollis Colonial Garden Club served the seniors a delicious potluck lunch. This was followed by our business meeting and a presentation. The presentation was given by Katie Walsh and the subject was improving bone density without drugs. This was followed by a discussion.    Simply outstanding!

As we are continuing to be a community service, the Seniors donated monies to “Support the Children” organization. 

Additionally, we had a great “Appreciation Day,” showing our appreciation to all the volunteers who serve us.  You can see the “cake” at the end of the letter and if you go to the seniors website, you will see more photos of our activities. 

Our summer picnic will be held 10 Jun 2010.  The “Boot-Scootin-Boomers” are going to be our entertainment.   Make your plans to come and enjoy a good time!

Activities for the month of June and July: 

-          3 Jun:  MOW, blood pressure and movie-time. In June it will be “The Bucket List.”

-          10 Jun:  We will be having our annual picnic.  And the “Boot-Scootin-Boomers” will be entertaining us.  So, come one, come all.

-          17 June:  TBA

-          24 June:  TBA

-          All of July:  TBA

July Birthdays:  Pat DeMayo, Janet LeMay, Bernard Mediera, Basil Mason, Lou Tyska and Pat Walsh. 

General:

1.      The Hollis Seniors now have a gateway to post cancellations on WMUR TV, airing 15 and 45 minutes past the hour on Channel 9.  If the weather looks bad, check Channel 9

2.      We have a business meeting the last Thursday of every month (except Thanksgiving).  Be sure to attend. 

3.      The SVTC bus service is off to a good start.  If you have any questions, give Jim Belanger a call at 465-2301 or call Nashua transportation at 880-0100 Ext 1.  And you can visit the SVTC web site at www.SouheganRides.org. 

Other Senior Activities of interest.

1.      How about a trip to the Portsmouth Harbor this summer?

2.      How about a trip to the NH State House to see and hear our State Reps at work? 

3.      How about some more “show and tells”?

4.      How about having a TV weather person come and speak to us?

5.      We are going to investigate the possibility of combining some future events with the Nashua Seniors group.
